Welcome to the silver anniversary NAPARS website!  The advent of 2009 brings with it the 25th anniversary of the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists, Inc.  NAPARS was formed in 1984 by a small group of accident reconstructionists whose goal was to professionalize the field of accident reconstruction through training and the sharing of ideas.

Over the years, NAPARS has hosted educational seminars as well as joining as co-host with other organizations to further crash conferences and training opportunities for both law enforcement and private sector members alike. NAPARS exists to serve all persons who are interested in the fields of traffic accident reconstruction and highway transportation safety.  Our plans for the coming year include the 2009 Combined Annual Conference in Ocean City, MD October 5 – 9, 2009.  The main topic this year will be crash reconstruction involving heavy trucks, with plans for live crash testing with commercial vehicles.

NAPARS works to further the discussion of cutting edge technology in our industry.  Our group publication, “Collision” magazine, is an important resource for crash investigators and reconstructionists.  It features recent crash conference proceedings, articles of interest, peer-reviewed papers, crash test data, industry news, and the latest in research.  All NAPARS members receive “Collision” magazine as part of their membership benefits.  Included with each print issue is a bonus CD or DVD with the latest conference presentations in PDF format, crash test data, or crash test video files.

NAPARS also continues to support ACTAR, the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction, which benefits the traffic accident investigation and reconstruction community by its recognition of the minimum standards established by the NHTSA study, as well as those developed by an ongoing review of the latest technology and trends in the profession.  NAPARS’s member Bruno Schmidt serves as our representative to the ACTAR Board.

If you are a current NAPARS member, welcome to your website.  Our hope is to utilize it to keep you informed of news, coming events, and training opportunities.  If you are a visitor, please feel free to browse our website and contact us if we can be of service.  And of course, we are always open to new members!
